Thoughts from Father Parent, O.M.I.

“The value of our actions is not measured by how difficult they are to accomplish, but by the love we put into living them.” |

Reflection on Father Parent's thoughts: Jesus tells us, “I have not come to be served but to serve” (Matthew 20:28). He consciously expressed that his mission was to establish the kingdom of God. He showed great love for humanity, turning especially towards those who were despised or in difficulty. His actions inspire us to compassion, fulfilling God's Will through concrete gestures in our daily lives. He makes his love visible and tangible to all. The value of an act is not measured by its physical or spiritual dimension, regardless of whether the action is simple or difficult, but by the intention behind it and the love that goes into it. Whether small or large, it is valuable if it is underpinned by love. “Though I speak with all the tongues..., if I have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal” (1 Corinthians 13:1). To love is to choose and to act. Action is not always synonymous with love. It can be superficial and inconsiderate, either to look good and be accepted, or to be loved. Speaking from the heart, acting from the heart, in selfless love, reflects actions of compassion and love that are rewarding and meaningful for everyone. It is therefore not the difficulty of accomplishing the action that adds value to it, but rather the love that prompts us to perform an act or say a word at the right time. Adrianna Delisle |
