Reflections on the following thought:
When I lived in the mountains in Haiti, people would sometimes give us little gifts out of gratitude.
Because they already had so little, I gently tried to dissuade them. One day, a lady said to me: “Why don't you let me have the pleasure of giving?”
I learned my lesson. I accepted gratefully and “arranged” to help her in another way during an appropriate occasion.
