Thought of Father Louis-Marie Parent, O.M.I. / Reflection 25

thought25

My neighbor is the ground where my love, in all its strength, must touch down. Father Louis-Marie Parent, O.M.I.

Reflection on Father Parent's thoughts:

This is a very concrete and deeply spiritual phrase from Father Parent. I consider it to be a parable.

Yes, the next person, the other person, must receive the love they need. There are many different kinds of neighbours, but they all deserve God's love, and as Christians, we must give it to them. They are our sisters and brothers.

There are several types of landings: easy ones where contact is made easily, it's simple and natural to like it. There are also more difficult, more turbulent landings, beyond our perception of our abilities, but we must remain in contact with our air traffic controller in order to land safely, to love others as they are and in what they need.

Our guide, our air traffic controller, is this God, who loves us and to whom we can safely surrender ourselves in order to land at any neighbour, sister, brother, with and in His Love.
