Cecile L. is part of the history of the Institute in India: she was one of the Oblates sent from Canada, for nearly 14 years. India is always dear to her heart. She tells the story:

«From June 27th to July 6th 2017, I had the grace and privilege to return to India and spend days with my companions. I was happy to realize their progress in all fields. I found oblates committed in their work as well as in their oblate life. My heart was thanking God for their life.

On July 1st we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the implementation of the Institute in India. I was mandated by our President, Denise Desrochers, to represent her for these festivities. The feast was well planned in all aspects. All the 24 oblates were present and each one had a role to play in this Feast. The mass was presided by George Cardinal Alencherry, a good friend of the group, who knows each Oblate by name as well as the work in which she is committed. I know him personally since 1973. He has come twice to Canada before year 2000.

As it is the custom, there were many official guests and many speeches, either in Malayalam or in English. The attendance was composed of many members of the Oblates’ families, co-workers, priests, nuns and many Capuchin priests and brothers, residents of the place.

Homages were presented to the 3 jubilarians: Mary Joseph, Mariamma Mathew and Thresiamma Sebastian. In the evening we also offered our wishes and gifts to them.

Among the guests, the brother priest of Teresa K. was present. He has been a missionary in the north of India for many years. The week that followed the Jubilee, he passed away - may he watch over the Institute which he appreciated greatly.

We realize that joys and sorrows are intimately linked in our life!

We give thanks to the Lord for all his benefits and graces. »
