Senior of the year 2005-2006

Congratulations to Andrée Labbé who was chosen Senior of the year 2005-2006 by her peers of the Association of retired teachers. Untiring source of energy at the service of others, she certainly deserves the honour bestowed upon her.

What motivates her to invest so much energy in the community? To this she answers, “The awareness of others.” She has the well being of others at heart. She summarizes the passion that animates her as follows: “What can I do today, to make the people in my milieu feel better?” To make this passion radiate in a meaningful way in her midst, she strives to live out certain attitudes of life: to be a peacemaker and a being of service. She has only one wish: To live the present moment intensely, because today is a gift.

An enriching gathering

On April 8, 2005, teams of Volunteers of God from the region of Montreal/Montérégie gathered for spiritual replenishment and to share their friendship. Simone Huneault presented a reflection on the theme of the year Let us be bearers of hope, in connection with the 5 attitudes of life and the Christian contacts, in the context of Holy Week.

It was an enriching experience during which time there were reflections on the theme, testimonies of personal experiences in small workshops concerning bearing hope in today’s world, moments of fraternal sharing and the celebration of the commitment to practice the attitudes of life and the Christian contacts. It is with enthusiasm and fervour that the 26 participants left to carry the flame of hope in their respective milieus, in communion and solidarity with the Volunteers of God and the Oblates throughout the whole world.

This gave the opportunity to get to know the liaison person on the Executive Council as well as the members of the Central Team.
